As featured in The Times 2012 “30 Great Pubs for Summer” with Gardens and Views

“One of the largest and most attractive pub gardens in the Cotswolds” Alastair Sawday’s Pubs and Inn 2012

In the spring & summer months our terrace and 4 acres of stunning riverside gardens with wooden tables, chairs & parasols, offer a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink or two, lunch on a sunny afternoon or dinner on a balmy evening.

During the winter months, go for a brisk stroll around the lake and then retreat to the warmth of the roaring log fires inside for a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate.

Many delightful walks are to be discovered from the grounds up to Stowell Park, Yanworth and The National Trusts Chedworth Roman Villa.

DOG PEOPLE REVIEW
Lottie stayed for a night in June 2012. First impressions were good as the attractive historic inn has a lovely garden including a small lake. Our welcome was friendly and during a short tour we were told breakfast is served in the dining room. When we asked if Lottie could be included we were told she was welcome to accompany us. We stayed in the comfortable Northleach room with a separate sitting area which provided a spacious feel and was ideal for Lottie to sleep on her bed. After settling in we decided to try out the 2 mile circular walk included in our room pack. Unfortunately we didn’t get far as we encountered two difficult stiles straightaway so decided it wasn’t suitable for Lottie. In the evening we had dinner in the bar (luckily at a pre-booked table, as it was rather busy) and enjoyed Lamb Koftas with mint sauce, Chicken Kiev and a good sized portion of Scampi with homemade chips. Lottie was delighted to receive some complimentary dog biscuits and to meet other dog guests including a Labrador and a Whippet. The next morning we all enjoyed our breakfast with self service arrangements for cereals and fruit followed by excellent individually cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs and thick cut bacon (Alan also had mushrooms and a grilled tomato). This is a relaxing place to stay or visit for a meal with its friendly and helpful staff.
